The Summerville Police Department has issued warrants for the arrest of a man who fled from officers during a traffic stop last month.

The incident occurred on January 11th when an officer observed a white SUV-type Infiniti traveling the wrong way on Pink Dogwood Lane. According to police reports, the officer was heading west on College Street when he noticed the vehicle’s erratic behavior. After the Infiniti made a left turn onto College Street, the officer initiated a traffic stop. However, the driver failed to comply, continuing down College Street and making another left onto University Street. As the chase progressed, the driver ultimately turned onto a dead-end section of University Street.

It was at this point that the officer exited his patrol car and observed a Black male wearing a black hoodie and gray sweatpants fleeing the scene toward East Washington Street. Despite catching a glimpse of the suspect’s side profile, the officer was initially unable to identify him. Further developments unfolded when the owner of the vehicle arrived at the scene. When questioned about the driver, the owner denied any knowledge of his identity or whereabouts. However, later that evening, a witness provided crucial information to law enforcement, revealing that the suspect was indeed Donovan Dallas. Police succeeded in locating a recent photograph of Dallas, which confirmed his identity as the individual who fled from the traffic stop.

Last week, a local resident reported to police that Dallas had been bragging about fleeing from police.  Summerville Police said that warrants would be taken out for Dallas’ arrest.
