A twenty-six-year-old Chattooga County man was arrested on Friday of last week after a theft investigation by the Summerville Police Department. According to reports from the police department, Joseph Walton Parker of a Back Penn Road address, is accused of going into Marvin’s home improvement store and purchasing over $7,000 worth of tools from the store on the account of his former employer. The purchases happened over a period of months, stretching back to August of last year when Parker was terminated. Parker was pawning the new tools at a local pawn shop, according to police. Warrants were taken out on Thursday of last week and Parker was booked into the Chattooga County Jail on Friday on charges of theft by deception and forgery.
