The Chattooga County Water District has seen an increase in revenues over the past four years due to water line expansion throughout the county according to County Commissioner Jason Winters.
Winters said that in 2008 the Chattooga County Water District had a monthly average income of $37,230.50 and a yearly total of $446,766.13. That compares with a 2011 monthly average income of $70,059.18 and a yearly total income of $840,651.02
Water revenues for the Chattooga County Water District have increased by 88% due to expansion of the system. Winters said "We will expect to see the water revenue increase higher in 2012 by an estimated $12,000 to $15,000 per month due to the additional 300 customers brought online by the recent 40 miles of water line installed."
Water line expansion is ongoing at Cloudland and in the Holland and Chattoogaville areas. With the expansion of the water lines Chattooga County also will be in a position to sell water to neighboring counties in the future.
