The Chattooga County Water District recently voted to proceed with a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the second phase of the Gore-Subligna Water Project.  Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters told board members that the area has already been environmentaly assesed by Ladd Engineering, which is required by the USDA.

The second phase of the Gore-Subligna Water Project has the potential of adding around 70 customers in Chattooga County.  Also the second phase would put Chattooga County water lines up to the Floyd County Line and the Walker County Line.  Winters said that gives Chattooga County the opportunity to sell water to adjoining counties in the future.

The Water District will be applying for a $1.6 million grant to fund the project.
