A large water tank arrived in Chattooga County earlier this week and while it was unloaded at Chattooga County Public Works in Summerville it is bound for Lookout Mountain.
Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters told AM 1180 that the tank was unloaded at the public works site on Wednesday of this week and will be transported to Highway 157 for installation. Winters said that work is underway on the pumpstations and the tank will be installed within the next few weeks. There are also plans for an additional water tank to be located off of Stateline Road. The commissioner said portions of the expanded water lines at Cloudland could begin to see water flowing sometime in February.
The Cloudland portion of the water expansion project runs water lines up Highway 157 to the Walker County line and across Gilreath Mill Road and down Stateline Road. Commissioner Winters said that by the time Phase II of the water expansion is complete over 80% of Chattooga County residents will have access to public water.
