Around 6:30 on Wednesday morning several area fire departments responded to a structure fire at the old Sanford Bigelow Rug Mill on Lyerly Street in Summerville. 

Reports indicate that the building, which is listed on current property tax listings as belonging to Mohawk Industries, was in the process of being gutted.  The cause of the fire is not known and was not extensive.  

In late July of this year the old Harriet and Henderson Mill in Berryton caught on fire and burned for several days creating an environmental concern for area residents.  In the Berryton Mill fire over 60 different organizations, including fire departments from neighboring states, took part in fighting the fire that went on for several days and prompted evacuations of surrounding homes.
