Chattooga County property owners have been asking, “When will we see our property tax bills?”.   Normally, we would just be a couple of weeks away from the deadline to pay those taxes, but the tax bills haven’t been prepared or sent out because of the huge number of property tax assessment appeals.

Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton says, “Tax bills will hopefully be viewable on the (tax commissioner’s) website in early December depending on when I gain approval from the Georgia Department of Revenue. It takes a few weeks after that to get them in mailboxes and I don’t want them to hit mailboxes the week of Christmas, so they will most likely be in the mail in January with a due date of March 1, 2024.”

Tax Commissioner Hampton says that she will be giving more updates in the near future.
