Chattooga High School and Head Football Coach Roone Gable are pleased to announce that 30 plus year coaching veteran Danny Wilson has agreed to become Defensive Coordinator for the Indians.

Wilson began his career at South Pittsburgh under legendary Coach Sid Grider. He was promoted to head coach upon Grider’s retirement. He won two state titles while at South Pitt, one as assistant, one as head coach. He then accepted the call to come home to his alma mater, Heritage High in Maryville, where he led the Mountainers to their best stretch in school history. He next spent 4 years as DC at Cleveland High, where his defenses ranked at or near the top of the state each year.

He then succeeded Leon Brown as Head Coach at Cleveland, before returning to South Pitt where he retired as the school’s Principal. He wasn’t done though, as he crossed the state line into Georgia to serve as DC and later Head Coach at Coahulla Creek High, where he oversaw the Colts’ rise from one of the worst programs in the state, to being in the playoffs his final season.
