… WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT SUNDAY…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PEACHTREE CITY HAS ISSUED A WIND ADVISORY FOR ALL OF NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA… WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT SUNDAY.

A VERY STRONG AREA OF LOW PRESSURE IS STRENGTHENING IN THE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY. THE ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT WILL PASS THROUGH THE STATE OVERNIGHT TONIGHT. AS THE LOW APPROACHES AND PASSES TO OUR NORTHWEST… STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS WILL SHIFT FROM THE EAST AND SOUTHEAST TODAY TO THE SOUTHWEST AND WEST ON SUNDAY. WITH THE RECENT HEAVY RAINS… THE GROUND IS SATURATED… AND IT WILL NOT TAKE WINDS AS STRONG AS IT MIGHT OTHERWISE TAKE TO DOWN TREES AND POWER LINES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT SUSTAINED WINDS OF 20 TO 35 MPH OR WIND GUSTS OF AT LEAST 35 MPH ARE EXPECTED. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT… ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA CAUTION.
