… WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 1 PM EST SATURDAY…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PEACHTREE CITY HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS OF SLEET… SNOW… AND FREEZING RAIN… WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 1 PM EST SATURDAY. THIS ADVISORY INCLUDES MUCH OF NORTHWEST GEORGIA ALONG AND NORTH OF A LINE FROM ROME TO CANTON TO CUMMING.

A MIXTURE OF RAIN… SLEET… AND SNOW WILL DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON… HOWEVER LITTLE IF ANY ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED INITIALLY AS TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN WELL ABOVE FREEZING. TEMPERATURES FALLING TO NEAR OR BELOW FREEZING LATE TONIGHT WILL ALLOW LIGHT SLEET AND SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF A DUSTING TO HALF INCH. THE PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE OVER TO RAIN… FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT WITH A LIGHT GLAZING OF ICE POSSIBLE. THE PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO SWITCH BACK OVER TO LIGHT SNOW SATURDAY MORNING BEFORE ENDING SATURDAY AFTERNOON.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW… SLEET… OR FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES… AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
