WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 AM EST MONDAY…

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THE NORTH GEORGIA MOUNTAINS FOR THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. THE AREA IS GENERALLY ALONG AND NORTH OF A LINE FROM SUMMERVILLE TO JASPER TO DAWSONVILLE TO CLEVELAND.

ARCTIC AIR WILL SURGE INTO THE SOUTHEASTERN UNITED STATES TODAY THROUGH MONDAY. TEMPERATURES WILL FALL BELOW FREEZING ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA THIS AFTERNOON AND STAY BELOW FREEZING THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING FOR AREAS NORTH OF A ROME TO GAINESVILLE LINE. AS A DEEP SURFACE LOW MOVES NORTHEAST THROUGH THE OHIO VALLEY… MOISTURE WILL SPREAD SOUTHEAST INTO NORTH GEORGIA. THIS WILL RESULT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SNOW SHOWERS ACROSS THIS REGION. OFF AND ON SNOW SHOWERS THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY MONDAY COULD RESULT IN SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF ONE INCH OR LESS IN THE AFFECTED AREA. THE MOST LIKELY AREAS TO SEE SNOW ARE ON NORTHWEST FACING SLOPES OF RIDGES AND MOUNTAINS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE PRIMARILY TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES… AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
