… WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON EST THURSDAY…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PEACHTREE CITY HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW… WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON EST THURSDAY.

 

* LOCATIONS: ALONG AND NORTH OF A LINE FROM HARRIS AND TALBOT COUNTIES TO HANCOCK COUNTY.

* HAZARDS: MAINLY LIGHT SNOW OR RAIN CHANGING TO SNOW.

* TIMING: SNOW BEGINS OVER FAR NORTH GEORGIA THIS EVENING WITH RAIN CHANGING TO SNOW FOR THE REST OF NORTH AND PARTS OF CENTRAL GEORGIA DURING THE NIGHT.

* ACCUMULATIONS: 1 TO 1.5 INCHES ACROSS THE FAR NORTH AND 1/4 TO 1 INCH OVER THE REST OF THE ADVISORY AREA.

* IMPACTS: ROADS WILL BECOME SLICK IF SNOW CAN ACCUMULATE ON THEM ESPECIALLY BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES.

* TEMPERATURES: LOWS 25 TO 30 ACROSS THE FAR NORTH AND 28 TO 33 ACROSS THE REST OF THE ADVISORY AREA.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW… SLEET… OR FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES… AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

.A WEAK LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL MOVE ACROSS THE GULF OF MEXICO TONIGHT INTO THURSDAY WITH A FAST MOVING UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE ASSOCIATED. A COLD AIRMASS WILL BE IN PLACE ACROSS THE AREA GIVING POTENTIAL FOR SNOW TO ACCUMULATE OVER NORTH AND PARTS OF CENTRAL GEORGIA MAINLY TONIGHT.
