A twenty-two-year old Rome woman was arrested for DUI at a checkpoint in Chattooga County earlier this month. 

According to an incident report from the Georgia State Patrol Public Information Office that was released on Friday of last week, the woman was traveling on Highway 48 and was stopped at a checkpoint near the intersection of Racoon Creek Road.  When the driver rolled down her window to speak with a state trooper, the trooper could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The woman told the trooper that she had smoked marijuana earlier in the day.  The trooper asked about the strong smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and the driver said she and some friends had been in Chattanooga earlier and her friends had been smoking pot in the vehicle.  The driver declined a sobriety test and was subsequently arrested.

Brittany Gabrielle Mason was charged with DUI for drugs and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
