A Chattooga County woman was arrested after allegedly attempting to leave the local Wal-Mart store with unpaid merchandise.

Adrienne Corene Bryson, 27, was taken into custody on October 2, 2025, and charged with Theft by Shoplifting following an incident at the Wal-Mart located at 13427 Highway 27.

According to a report from Cpl. Corey Fielding of the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to the store around 7:45 PM in reference to a shoplifting complaint. Upon arrival, Asset Protection (AP) personnel advised Cpl. Fielding that a female subject, later identified as Bryson, was being held in their office after failing to pay for numerous items.

Cpl. Fielding reviewed video footage of the incident, which reportedly showed Bryson at a self-checkout station. While she was observed scanning and paying for several items, approximately $70 worth of merchandise remained in her shopping cart, for which no payment was made. Bryson then allegedly attempted to exit the store with the unpaid items but was intercepted by Wal-Mart’s Asset Protection team.

Cpl. Fielding took Bryson into custody without further incident. She was then transported to the Chattooga County Jail. The incident was captured on Cpl. Fielding’s Body-Worn Camera (BWC), and additional video evidence was provided by Wal-Mart.
