A forty-three-year-old woman has been charged with a felony after police discovered she had stolen Valentine’s decorations from downtown Summerville.

According to Summerville Police, they were called to a Curran Street residence on Monday of this week after a complainant told them that he wanted a woman removed from his house.  When police arrived and spoke with the man, he told them that he believed the woman had stolen the gas cap off his motorcycle.

When police entered the home, they saw decorations that were placed in downtown by Summerville Main Street for Valentine’s Day.  Officers asked the woman who owned the decorations and she told officers that they “were hers.”

Officers arrested Maranda Jo Nelms and charged her with interference with government property, which is a felony, and with theft by taking.

Nelms was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
