A fifty-year-old woman was arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop in Lyerly.

According to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was traveling toward Alabama on Highway 114 (the Lyerly Highway) in the area of Spraggins Hill Road on Monday evening when he observed a vehicle failing to maintain a single lane.  After initiating a traffic stop, the deputy spoke with the driver and observed an open alcoholic beverage inside the vehicle.  After speaking with both the driver and the passenger, the officer ran the driver and the passenger’s information with 911.

The passenger had given the officer a false name which raised suspicion.

Chattooga County’s K9 dog “Kendy” was deployed during a search of the vehicle and found a marijuana roach and a pipe with suspected methamphetamine.  The passenger, Tonya Hensley Regalado was charged with possession of methamphetamine.

The driver, passed a field sobriety test and was given a warning for failure to maintain a single lane.
