A Chattooga County woman fell victim to a gift card email scam in March.

According to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office this past week, the woman received an email at work instructing her to purchase $600 in gift cards and forward them to a person identifying themselves as “Stephanie Harbor.”

After the complainant had sent the gift cards, she discovered it was a scam and asked for a report to be on file at the sheriff’s office about the incident.  The case was turned over to an investigator to look into the incident.
