The Calhoun Times reported Thursday afternoon that a woman has been found dead in the area behind a Gordon County restaurant, according to police.
According to Calhoun Police Department Chief Tony Pyle, detectives from his department are investigating the discovery of a deceased female found in the cab of a semi truck parked in the lot behind the Waffle House, 1420 Red Bud Road.
Found Thursday afternoon, the female is not a local resident, according to Pyle, but possibly part of an out-of-town driving team.
Local authorities have called for assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Scene Unit to work the scene.
The identity of the woman has not been released as the investigation into the death continues, with no cause of death yet determined.
