A Chattooga County deputy was parked at the Dollar General Store in Gore on Wednesday when someone walked up and told him that there was a female lying in the roadway on John Jones Road.

When the deputy arrived to where the woman was lying, he found her dressed in all black clothing and sleeping with her head propped up on a duffel bag.  The deputy was able to wake the woman and could smell the odor of alcohol.  The deputy reported that the woman’s speech was slurred.  She told the deputy that she had been kicked out of the place she was staying.  She also told the deputy that she had been drinking beer and wine earlier in the evening.

Upon further investigation, the deputy discovered that the woman actually lived alone.  She told the deputy that she was “homicidal” but not “suicidal”.  At that point, the deputy determined that the woman was having a mental health crisis and called for Redmond EMS to transport the woman for evaluation.
