A woman who said she was speeding because she was late for work was arrested by Chattooga County Deputies for DUI after a traffic stop in Trion.

Kensey Deanne Alexander, 29, was pulled over for speeding on Highway 27. According to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department. The incident occurred near Halls Valley Drive. Cpl. Villagomez, who was conducting stationary RADAR monitoring, clocked a black Kia Sorento traveling northbound at 81 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. After initiating a traffic stop at Highway 27 near Stoleman Road, a deputy spoke with Alexander, who reportedly stated she was late for work and nervous.

During the conversation, the deputy noticed the odor of alcohol on Alexander’s breath after she lit a cigarette. Alexander allegedly admitted to having consumed “one shot.”After conducting field sobriety tests, Alexander reportedly refused a preliminary breath test and also refused to consent after being read implied consent laws. She was subsequently taken into custody. During a vehicle inventory search, Deputy Whitworth discovered an empty “shooter” bottle in the passenger seat area.

En route to the jail, Alexander allegedly stated she didn’t want to take the breathalyzer test because she thought she would fail it.  Alexander was charged with DUI and booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
