A Chickamauga woman was struck and killed by a motor vehicle while she was riding her bicycle along Prospect Road on Tuesday afternoon.

55 year old Melinda Brewer was fatally injured when she was hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee around 4:15pm.

The Walker County Messenger reports that the driver, 44 year old Timothy Foster, was traveling south on Georgia Highway 193; he then turned onto Prospect Road, where he failed to see the cyclist.

Brewer was pronounced dead at the scene.

That accident remains under investigation.
