Chattooga County Probate Judge Gary Woods says that the Chattooga County Probate Office will be closed this week for the runoff election.

This will be the first election overseen by Judge Woods.  Unlike some counties in Georgia that have a Board of Elections, Chattooga County’s elections are overseen by the Probate Judge who also serves as Election Superintendent.

Tomorrow is Election Day and voters in Chattooga County and across Georgia will be returning to the polls to vote in the U.S. Senate Runoff races.  Georgia is in the unusual position this year of electing two United States Senators due to the resignation of Senator Johnny Isakson last year.

Judge Woods say the Chattooga County Probate office will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 5th and Wednesday the 6th for the election and election tabulation.

The probate office will re-open on Thursday, January 7th.
