A minor wreck ended with a DUI arrest and a transport to Floyd County for one individual this week.

According to Summerville Police records  one person was arrested after a minor wreck for DUI and later transported to Floyd County on an outstanding warrant.

Officers arrived on scene at Marvin Avenue and Commerce Street where they met with the driver of the first vehicle, Richard Thomas, who stated that the driver of the second vehicle struck him in the rear. The driver of the second vehicle, Cory Bethune was spoken with. Officers noted that Bethune was visibly intoxicated and unable to answer simple questions. Officers decided that Bethune needed to be detained and placed him in the back of their patrol vehicle, where they noticed that he kept falling asleep. Officers read Bethune the implied consent and Bethune refused. Officers charged him with following less closely and DUI less safe for drugs and transported him to Floyd County for handoff.
