The Yanmar plant in Adairsville is planning to hire more employees. Yanmar warehousing operations are being moved from Chicago and Japan to the recently expanded plant in the Georgia North Industrial Park. Plant manager Tom Calhoun told business leaders in Bartow County "We like business, we want business to come here, and we will do all we can to keep that business,". Employees in the other communities were offered the chance to move to Adairsville, but most apparently turned down the opportunity.

The new jobs will fall primarily in the warehousing operation, however there will probably be a few sales, engineering and marketing positions open. Calhoun also said that Yanmar hopes to bring back some of the employees that were laid off after the marine engine facility was shut down earlier this year. The consolidation is still in it’s early stages and should be finished by the summer of 2010.
