The weather's nice and it's a good time to take a stroll downtown and pick out your favorite scarecrow. It's all part of the Better Hometown Committee's Scarecrow Contest; area merchants, groups and individuals erected more than 20 scarecrows as part of the first contest, which is hoped to be an annual event. Scarecrow creators are vying for first, second and third place prizes in three categories. Now, it's time for area residents to vote for the People's Choice Award. The People's Choice Award winner will receive an 8X10 plaque and bragging rights. You can vote at Merle Norman, Yolis, American Roots, Pal's Coffee Shop, Farm Bureau, and the City of Summerville.
