Around 400 farmers from across the state of Georgia will be headed to Chattooga County today for the 2009 Georgia Young Farmers Tour which is being hosted by the Chattooga County Chapter of the Young Farmers.
Organizer for the event, Lynn Hall told AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio that his group is ready for the farmers coming for the tour. The event begins this evening at the Reynold’s Barn on Sloppy Floyd Lake Road where the group will get registered and enjoy a meal.
On Saturday the group will tour JP Smith Lumber Company in Menlo and then travel to Lookout Mountain to visit Burt’s Beef, owned by Teddy Gentry and Tennessee River Music, a Herferd Cattle operation owned by Randy and Kelly Owen along with GENEX, a internationally known cattle genetic company.
Hall told AM 1180 that the tour would begin tommorrow morning as the group boards the bus at Chattooga High School at 7:30 AM.
