Angio Screens to Be Offered Locally

1 million people in the U.S. will have a heart attack this year.  Will YOU be one of them?  Vascular disease is the number one killer of men and women.  50% of stroke and heart attack victims experience no warning signs prior to their stroke or heart attack.   AngioScreen® is a revolutionary vascular health screening that will provide you with information about your circulation and your risk of heart disease and stroke.   There are no needles, no dye, no radiation, and no fasting required. In only 6-10 minutes, this painless screening will include: a stroke screening/carotid artery ultrasound; an EKG of the heart which detects atrial fib; a peripheral arterial disease (PAD) screening for plaque or blockages in leg arteries; and a screening for an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA).  AAA’s have no symptoms, but are often fatal if they rupture. You will receive immediate results, a 2-3 minute interpretative consultation, photos of your carotid arteries, a letter to your physician with an electronic records CD, and a personal report for you on your heart rhythm, neck and leg arteries, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), and an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) ultrasound. Administered by Redmond Occupational Health, AngioScreens® are being offered to the general public by appointment on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 8am – 6pm at the Chattooga Chamber / Civic Center in Redmond’s Scan Van. The event is being hosted locally by the Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce and the Summerville-Trion Optimist Club.  AngioScreens® are NOT covered by insurance, but Redmond is able to provide the screening at a cost of only $80, a significant savings to you. If these screenings were done separately at a hospital, the cost could run several thousand dollars.  Payments types accepted are cash, check, credit, debit and tax saver/flex spending cards. Tax saver/flex spending receipts will be provided. To schedule your appointment, please call Redmond Occupational Health central scheduling at 855-847-0781.

Harbin Clinic Rehabilitation Center Opens

A new center to complement medical/surgical interventions and better coordinate acute treatment with rehabilitation services has been opened by Harbin Clinic.

The Harbin Clinic Rehabilitation Center opened at 208 Redmond Road today providing a full range of services.

The Center provides physical therapy, chiropractic treatment, and massage therapy to patients.

“The Rehabilitation Center compliments our Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Pain Management, and Physiatrist services,” said Ken Davis, MD, CEO of Harbin Clinic. “By adding rehabilitation to the Harbin Clinic team approach to treatment, our doctors and surgeons are better able to coordinate treatment plans for our patients, possibly reducing the cost of care and improving outcomes.”

According to William F. Hunter, DC, who moved his office from the Harbin Clinic Spine and Pain practice to the new center, “Our goal for the Rehabilitation Center is to provide a larger, more convenient location where we can better meet the comprehensive needs of our patients. As part of Harbin Clinic, our rehabilitation program will be better able to share information with Harbin Clinic referring doctors through our electronic medical record system while integrating rehabilitation into the total treatment plan.”

Joining Dr. Hunter at the Harbin Clinic Rehabilitation Center are Chris Nelson, DC, and Mack Burt, DC. Drs. Nelson and Burt have operated a successful chiropractic and physical therapy practice in Rome for several years. According to Dr. Nelson, “The new rehabilitation center is a partnership with Harbin Clinic where we can better meet the comprehensive needs of our patients. Working with our friend, Dr. Hunter, we helped designed a rehabilitation facility that enhances the patient experience and allows better clinical processes. The new center brings our outstanding team of professionals and staff into the Harbin Clinic brand, and provides us access to an electronic medical record system that ranks in the top 1% in the United States.”

According to Dr. Burt, “Health care in the United States is changing. The affiliation with Harbin Clinic assures our ability to continue providing outstanding care to our patients in an environment that mandates quality care and supports our personal relationships with our patients.”

Harbin Clinic is the state’s largest physician-owned multi-specialty clinic with 21 locations throughout Northwest Georgia providing treatment in 36 specialties. For additional information on the new Harbin Clinic Rehabilitation Center or to schedule an appointment, call 706-234-8221.
