PRESS RELEASE: Governor Nathan Deal has reappointed Jason Winters to the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority Board.
Winters is the sole commissioner of Chattooga County and a member of the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission. He is a former chairman of the Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce and a former vice chairman of the Georgia Rural Development Council. Winters is a past president of the Summerville-Trion Rotary Club. He is a member of the Summerville-Trion Optimist Club and sits on the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Chattooga County. Winters earned a bachelor’s degree from Berry College. He and his wife, Abby, reside in Lyerly.

A Summerville woman called 9-1-1 on her contractor last Wednesday because she thought he did a bad job.
Today’s docket records indicate that a break-in was reported last Saturday at Crossroads Antiques in Summerville at the intersection of Mahan and Hair Lake Roads.
According to police records, the lock on the front door of Crossroads Antiques had been cut with a pair of bolt cutters that were left on the scene. Complainant Kaye Hamby told the responding deputy that one show case of jewelry had been pilfered through, and three entire wooden show cases and her cash register had been stolen.
At the time of the report, Hamby was unable to provide a dollar amount of the value of the stolen goods. The case is currently under investigation by the Chattooga Co. Sheriff’s Office.
Brett Lee Williams, of Centre, AL, was arrested at the Rome Fudruckers after he threatened his kids for not eating their chicken. Reports said that Williams told his children that he would “beat their a** if they did not eat some damn chicken”.
Reports added that Williams then refused to provide his ID to police. He is charged with cruelty to children, simple assault, disorderly conduct and obstruction of law enforcement.
