Trion Misses Team Title – Maddux & Eller Excel At Tournament

The Trion Bulldogs wrestling team fell short at the GHSA state traditional tournament on Friday, bu Toby Maddux and Logan Eller ended the season undefeated and with individual state championships.  Toby Maddux captured the championship for the 165 pound class and Logan Eller was state champion for the 190 pound class. The Trion Bulldogs set a school record  with seven wrestlers competing at the tournament who made the Class A finals, more than any other school represented.  Trion went 2-7 on the title round and lost three individual matchups to Social Circle.  The Bulldogs finished third in team standings.   Congratulations to Toby Maddux and Logan Eller and to the Trion Bulldogs Wrestling Team for a great season.

Calhoun Man Arrested After Leaving The Scene Of An Accident

A twenty-nine-year-old Calhoun man left the scene of an accident and barricaded himself inside the restroom of a convenience store because he “did not want to deal with police”.  According to Floyd County Jail records, Michael Hunter Garrett admitted to being under the influence of methamphetamine, marijuana, painkillers and “other possible drugs” when eh hit a guard rail on Highway 411 in Rome.  Garrett fled the scene and hid in the gas station bathroom, where he was later arrested by police.  He has been charged with hit and run, failure to maintain a single lane, DUI, no insurance and no drivers license.
