The Trion Fire Department released their monthly call report for January. The fire department went on a total of 46 calls with 6 residential fire alarm calls and 6 commercial fire alarm calls. They responded to 3 woods fires, 4 vehicle fires, 5 accidents and did 15 medical assists. They also responded to 6 natural gas leak calls and one downed tree call in the month of January.

Mr. Michael Dwight Anthony, age 63, of Summerville, GA, departed this life Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Calhoun Health Center.
Mr. Anthony was born September 14, 1959, in Chattooga County, GA, son of the late John H. Anthony and Annette Mostiller Anthony. He attended school in the Chattooga County School System. Michael joined Pond Spring AME Zion Church at an early age. Prior to his disability, he was employed at Lester Foundry. Michael was a loving and caring brother until his health began to fail, but he had loving caretakers including his brother and a special niece, Tara Foster.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Lora Reynolds Anthony; two brothers; one sister, three uncles; and two aunts.
He is survived by four brothers, Larry Anthony, Terry Anthony, John Anthony, and Lonette Adams, Jr.; sister, Janice Foster; two step-children, Ashley Reynolds and Tasha Dupree; and a son, Dwight Steward.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 11, 2023, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J.T. Holt officiating. Interment will follow in Finley Chapel Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be nephews. Flower bearers will be nieces.
Mr. Anthony will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Saturday.

AT&T Wireless says that there is a network issue in the Northwest Georgia area that is affecting many customers in Chattooga County today. AT&T says “the network issue in this area may affect your mobile service quality”. AT&T is giving a estimated restoration time for Saturday.
Here is the latest arrest report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office for Friday February 10, 2023:
A forty-one-year-old Chattooga County man was charged with driving under the influence in Rome on Thursday. According to arrest reports from Floyd County, Brian Gregory Thomas, of a Ridgewood Circle, Summerville address, was stopped on Martha Berry Highway between Northside Church and the Armuchee Pharmacy. Thomas was charged with DUI by Floyd County Police and booked into the Floyd County Jail.
Between midnight Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, Summerville Police officers made several visits to a house on Fourth Street regarding a domestic dispute. When officers first spoke with the complainant, she said that forty-three-year-old John Wayne Siffles had been drinking and had damaged the residence, but that she did not want to press charges. Officers were not able to immediately locate Siffles. Officers returned to the scene later in the night and saw where Siffles had damaged the inside of the residence. Another time, officers came back to the residence and the complainant said that Siffles had “thrown her pocketbook and belongings all over the ground”. This time, officers found Siffles inside the residence “in an extremely intoxicated condition”. Siffles was arrested shortly before 2 AM Thursday morning and booked into the Chattooga County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct.
A Highland Avenue, Summerville woman reported a burglary on Sunday to the Summerville Police Department. According to police, the woman told a responding officer that someone had broken into the shed located behind her home and stolen several items. The stolen items were not listed in the police report. The complainant could not identify any possible suspects and the incident was turned over to an investigator.
