Alcohol Beverage Board Hearing Tuesday

The Chattooga Alcohol Beverage Control board will hold a hearing on Tuesday, September 19th at 5 PM at the Chattooga County Commissioner’s Office, located at 10102 Commerce Street in Summerville.  The purpose of the meeting is to hear an application for a beer and wine license for a business that will be located at 11638 Highway 27, Suite 6 in Summerville.  Nahid Tahir, the manager of the business, has applied for the license. All interested persons are advised that they may protest the issuance of the license at said date and time.

Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson is running for an eighth term.  Sheriff Wilson activated his re-election social media page over the weekend.  Wilson has served as sheriff in Walker County since 1997.

Summerville Police responded to a call at the Amoco gas station on Commerce Street last Thursday about a man who was acting strangely.

Summerville Police Investigating Theft Of Services

Summerville Police were called last week about a theft of services on Red Leaf Lane.  According to a report from the police department, the owner of the home told police that he had rented the house to a Joseph Daniel Hutchins.  After Hutchins had vacated the premises, the homeowner found a broken lock on the water meter.  The City of Summerville Water Department confirmed that the water had been stolen.  The incident was turned over to an investigator.

Adairsville Man Jailed After Selling Borrowed Tractor

An Adairsville, Georgia man was jailed in Floyd County after he was accused of selling a tractor that he had borrowed from a Floyd County resident.  According to police reports, forty-three-year-old Barry Donald Mount had borrowed a Branson tractor, along with a trailer and several implements, and then sold the tractor, trailer and implements without permission from the owner.  The Branson tractor and equipment was valued at $30,000.  Mount was booked into the Floyd County Jail with a $15,000 bond on Friday of last week.

Rapid COVID-19 Testing Site Moving Because Of Fair

Because of the Coosa Valley Fair, the Georgia Department of Public Health will be temporarily relocating their free COVID-19 test site from the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds to the back parking lot of the Floyd County Health Department, 16 East 12th Street.

They will test at this alternate site on Saturday, September 23, be back at the fairgrounds September 25-29, and again at the health department from Saturday, September 30 – October 7.

They will resume regular testing at the fairgrounds on Monday, October 9.
