A Chattooga County agricultural student competed in FFA competitions this past week. Lane Bridges placed first among 26 competitors at the Area 1 Tractor Operation and Maintenance CDE on Thursday.
A fifty-four-year-old woman was jailed earlier this month after she was accused of passing two check at a local credit union with the account and routing number of Trion City Schools. Terri Lee Kirk is accused of passing one check for $4,500 and another for $5,500 at Peach State Credit Union in Trion. Trion Police were made aware of the transactions and arrested Kirk, charging her with deposit account fraud.
Dalton State was ranked number one in the nation for Student Experience in The Wall Street Journal/College Pulse 2024 Best Colleges in the U.S. rankings. The Student Experience ranking is based on three categories – campus facilities, community and social life, and diversity on campus. Just over a week after President Biden designated Hurricane Idalia a major disaster in Georgia, FEMA and its federal partner, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), have approved more than $1.7 million in disaster assistance to help residents of Cook, Glynn and Lowndes counties recover from the hurricane.

Greene says that AM radio is vital in times of emergency. Greene says, “When all other services are unavailable, and the power is out, a car’s AM radio is a lifeline. There is no alternative that has the reach and resiliency of AM radio stations, a service that is free to all listeners and doesn’t require a subscription, data plan, or other fees. More than 80 million Americans regularly listen to AM radio and six in 10 radio fans even cited the lack of cost as one of the top two drivers for tuning in”. Rep. Rome Police Chief Denise Downer-McKinney announce that Captain Trixie Morgan of the Rome Police Department has graduated as a member of the 287th session of the FBI National Academy. The graduation took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia on September 14th, 2023.
