
A thirty-one-year-old Chattooga County man was arrested after running from the Georgia State Patrol. According to the Georgia State Patrol public information office, Levi Tony Noles led troopers on a high speed chase on Wildlife Lake Road in Summerville on Wednesday of this week. The chase ended with Noles crashing the motorcycle and fleeing on foot. He was quickly apprehended and taken to the Chattooga County Emergency Department for treatment before being booked into the Chattooga County Jail. Noles was charged with fleeing and attempting to elude, expired tag, following too closely, failure to maintain a single lane, hit and run – leaving the scene of an accident, improper display of license plate, improper class of drivers license, no insurance, possession of marijuana less than an ounce, reckless driving, use of a license plate to conceal or misrepresent and willful obstruction of law enforcement officers.
A Lyerly resident reported damage to a vehicle on Williams Street to the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office. According to an incident report from the sheriff’s office, Haley Studdard told a responding deputy that someone had flattened all four tires on her truck and had used spray paint all over the vehicle. The responding deputy observed the damage to the truck. The complainant said that she had not seen the damage at 5 AM the morning the report was made; however, her grandfather noticed it at 8:30 AM when he went outside. The complainant told the deputy that she was not in any kind of ongoing feud or argument with anyone and had no idea who might have done the damage. There were no security cameras at the home, according to the report.
University System of Georgia (USG) Chancellor Sonny Perdue today announced the successful start to an ongoing partnership with the National Institute for Student Success (NISS) to close student achievement gaps and improve student enrollment, retention and college completion.
This week, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp joined the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) in announcing that the state surpassed $49.7 billion in exports in 2023, eclipsing the record-setting $47 billion in 2022. The state currently ranks seventh in the U.S. for dollar value of trade, facilitating more than $186 billion in total trade to 222 unique countries and territories, and 12th in the country for dollar value of exports.
“The Pickup” is an Amazon movie that will star Eddie Murphy and filming for the production is taking place in Floyd County. Production crews spoke with Floyd County officials this week saying that they would be filming in Lindale and Rome later this month.
The driver of an Atlanta Gas Light Company pickup truck reported damage of the company truck to the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office last week. According to a report from the sheriff’s office, Keaton Blue told a deputy that he was traveling on Butler Dairy Road around 6:40 AM, when another vehicle approached him on the narrow road. Mr. Blue said that he got as far on the shoulder as he could, but the other vehicle struck the passenger side mirror of the company truck, causing damage. The other vehicle kept driving and didn’t stop. The complainant said that Atlanta Gas Light Company asked for a police report in regards to the incident.
