NW Georgia Cancer Coalition Participating In Cancer Prevention Day At State Capitol

The Northwest Georgia Regional Cancer Coalition will participate in Cancer Prevention Day at Georgia’s State Capitol in Atlanta next Monday, February 12th.

Erin Hernandez, President and CEO, says that the purpose is to let legislators know about the work currently underway towards cancer prevention and how they can help.

Georgia Gas Prices Remain Steady

Georgia gas prices remain steady at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia drivers are paying an average price of $3.02 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday’s state average remains the same as a week ago, is 5 cents more than a month ago, and 33 cents less than this time last year. It now costs an average of $45.30 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Georgians are now paying almost $5.00 less to fill up at the pump compared to a year ago.

The Summerville 1st United Methodist Church will be having an Ash Wednesday Service on Wednesday, February 14th at 6pm in the Sanctuary followed by normal Wednesday Night Supper in the Fellowship Hall

The 1st Annual Summerville 1st United Methodist Church Chili Cookoff will be held on Saturday, March 16th in the Fellowship Hall beginning at 4pm. Free to enter, just bring a crockpot of your best chili recipe! $10 entry fee for “eaters” which includes bottomless chili samples, a piece of cornbread, drink and dessert. Winners chosen by the crowd. Funds raised will go towards a new roof for our historic building as well as other ministries of SFUMC. This event is open to ALL!
