If winter weather has you looking ahead to warmer days, now is a good time to lock in a camping spot at James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park in Summerville.
Park Manager Katy Gramling says reservations are already coming in for spring break, and she encourages families and groups to book early while preferred dates are still available.
Gramling says spring and summer visitors can take advantage of the park’s popular outdoor activities, including hiking, fishing, and time on the water with kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boarding. She adds that winter can be an ideal season for campers who want more peace and quiet, since the park is typically slower this time of year. One exception, Gramling notes, is Valentine’s Day weekend, which is expected to bring a boost in visitors.
