Two individuals were arrested following an altercation that led to the discovery of illegal drugs earlier this week in Chattooga County.
According to an incident report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on March 16 to the area of Highway 27 and Howard Avenue near Back Penn Road in reference to a reported fight.
Upon arrival, a deputy observed a female, identified as 43-year-old Cassandra Crider, striking a male, later identified as 31-year-old Gary Bryson Crump, with closed fists. Authorities intervened and began separating the two individuals.
During the investigation, Crider told deputies that the altercation stemmed from an argument over a phone. Both parties accused each other of physical aggression, and deputies ultimately determined both would be taken into custody on affray charges.
While on scene, the deputy observed Crump drop a small container, which was found to contain suspected methamphetamine. A further search also revealed marijuana packaged in a manner consistent with distribution.
As a result, Crump faces multiple charges, including:
-
Possession of methamphetamine
-
Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
-
Possession of marijuana
-
Abandonment of dangerous drugs
-
Affray
Crider was charged with affray in connection with the incident.
Both individuals were transported to the Chattooga County Jail. The case remains under investigation.
