Drivers in Chattooga County and across Northwest Georgia could see reduced visibility this morning as isolated areas of patchy fog drop visibility below a half mile in some spots. Conditions are expected to improve by around 10 a.m.
After the fog lifts, the region will stay locked into a warm spring pattern through the weekend, with daily chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms. Rain chances will be lower on Thursday, but isolated afternoon activity will still be possible.
Forecasters say temperatures will remain well above normal, with afternoon highs reaching the 70s in the higher elevations and climbing into the 80s in many lower-elevation communities. Overnight lows will stay mild, generally in the upper 50s to low 60s.
Looking ahead, the warm and humid pattern is expected to hold through Saturday, with pop-up showers and storms possible during the afternoon and evening hours. A front is expected to move in late Saturday night into Sunday, bringing a better chance of showers and thunderstorms before cooler, more seasonable air returns early next week.
Residents are encouraged to use caution during the morning commute where fog develops and to keep an eye on the forecast for changing rain chances through the weekend.
