The Trion Bulldogs return to Sam R. McCain Memorial Stadium tonight looking to build on an impressive start to the 2026 football season as they welcome the Model Blue Devils to Trion.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM.
Coach Sean Patrick’s Bulldogs are 1-0 after opening the season with a convincing 36-7 victory over arch-rival Gordon Lee. Trion showed plenty of offensive firepower in the opener while its defense held the Trojans to just seven points.
Among the Bulldogs to watch tonight is senior quarterback and defensive back Linc Allen, who rushed for 116 yards in the opener and accounted for four touchdowns. Junior Landon Kimbell contributed 85 receiving yards, while senior Hudson Thomas led the defense with 12 tackles and one-and-a-half sacks.
Model also comes into tonight’s non-region matchup at 1-0. The Blue Devils are coached by Jeff Hunnicutt and compete in Class AA, while Trion is a Class A program.
Recent history between the two schools has favored Trion. The Bulldogs have won four of the last five meetings, including a 28-21 victory at Model last season. Trion defeated Model 22-12 at home in 2024 and 31-12 on the road in 2023. Model’s most recent victory in the series came in 2022, when the Blue Devils edged Trion 31-27.
There is also some history on the line for the Bulldogs this season. Following last week’s win, Trion stands at 592 all-time football victories, leaving the program eight wins away from becoming one of a relatively small group of Georgia high schools to reach 600 victories.
Tonight’s game is the second of two consecutive home games for Trion. The Bulldogs travel to Ridgeland next Friday before visiting Dade County on September 11.
The Chattooga Indians have the night off tonight and return to action next Friday, September 4, when they host this same Model Blue Devils team at the Little Big Horn.
WZQZ will have tonight’s Trion-Model game live. Fans can listen on WZQZ 99.1 FM and AM 1180, or watch the live broadcast on the WZQZ Radio Facebook page. Kickoff from Sam R. McCain Memorial Stadium is at 7:30 PM.
