Five organizations serving Chattooga County received a combined $5,350 through North Georgia EMC’s Operation Round Up program during the cooperative’s Spring 2026 grant cycle.

The grants were awarded by the North Georgia Electric Membership Foundation, which distributes money contributed by NGEMC members participating in Operation Round Up.

Chattooga County recipients included:

• Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office — $1,000
• Community Resource Center of Chattooga — $1,000
• Lookout Mountain CARES – Bridge Health Services — $1,350
• Menlo Lions Club — $1,000
• Paradise Garden Foundation — $1,000

NGEMC says the foundation awarded a total of $144,225 to 39 nonprofit agencies serving residents of Chattooga, Catoosa, Floyd, Gordon, Murray, Walker and Whitfield counties during the Spring 2026 grant cycle. Of that amount, $64,075 went to organizations providing hunger relief.

Operation Round Up is funded by participating North Georgia EMC members who voluntarily have their monthly electric bills rounded up to the next whole dollar. Those small individual contributions are combined and distributed through the foundation to organizations serving communities within NGEMC’s service territory.

The program has previously provided assistance for a variety of needs in Chattooga County.

Community Resource Center of Chattooga recently credited Operation Round Up support with helping the organization remove barriers for people experiencing homelessness. CRC said funding helped pay for items including birth certificates, housing application fees and basic hygiene needs as clients worked toward employment and permanent housing.

The Spring awards mean $5,350 in Operation Round Up contributions was directed back into organizations serving Chattooga County.

North Georgia EMC operates a local office at 13822 Highway 27 in Trion and serves members in Chattooga County and across Northwest Georgia.
