Voters in Chattooga County will be asked to return to the polls on April 7, 2026 to vote in two runoff elections.   The runoffs were a result of no candidate getting more than 50% of the vote in the Special Election for the Georgia 53rd Senate District and the 14th U.S. Congressional District races.

Voters will be asked to choose between former Trion Mayor Lanny Thomas, a Republican, and Democrat Jack Zibluk of Lookout Mountain for the 53rd Senate District.  Former Lookout Mountain District Attorney Clay Fuller, a Republican, is facing off against Democrat Shawn Harris, a retired U.S. Army Brigadier General and farmer for the 14th Congressional District race.

Election officials in Chattooga County say that the deadline to request an absentee ballot for the runoff election is March 27, 2026.  Advance voting will start next Monday, March 30th and run through April 2nd.   All advance voting takes place at the Chattooga County Registrars Office, located at 10017 Commerce Street in Summerville and will take place from 8:30 AM until 5 PM daily.  There will be no Saturday voting for this election.

Remember to bring a valid government ID when you come to vote.
