Time is critical for patients this December, and the American Red Cross is urging donors to make an appointment to give blood now to help keep the blood supply stable during the busy holiday season. The Red Cross says O positive, O negative, and B negative blood types are especially needed now and in the coming weeks.

December is also the National Month of Giving, and the Red Cross says a blood donation can bring hope and healing when it matters most. When emergencies happen, it’s the blood products already available on hospital shelves that help save lives.

To schedule an appointment, donors can use the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit RedCrossBlood.org, or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

The Red Cross is also offering donor incentives this month. Those who come to give December 8 through December 18, 2025, will receive a $15 Amazon Gift Card by email. Donors who give December 19, 2025 through January 4, 2026, will receive an exclusive Red Cross long-sleeved T-shirt, while supplies last. More details are available at RedCrossBlood.org/Gifts.

If you’re unable to give blood, the Red Cross encourages supporters to consider making a financial donation to help support its lifesaving mission at redcross.org.
