Mrs. Annie Ruth Sweatman, age 83, of Summerville, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2009 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Sweatman was born in Chattooga County, GA on September 4, 1926, daughter of the late Glenn Elsberry and Anna Belle Kellett Elsberry. She was a member of the Fisher’s Chapel United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Sweatman was preceded in death by her husband, James Ed Sweatman, and a son, Nick Sweatman. Mrs. Sweatman is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Leroy “Bud” and Sharon Sweatman; a daughter-in-law, Pat Sweatman; Brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Peggy Elsberry and Ed and Barbara Elsberry; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sarah and Harold Duke and Naomi Faye and Billy Ramsey; Grandchildren, Tracy (Darryl) Crider, Dee (Jay) Shedd, Michele (Brit) Copeland, Samantha (Joe) Stephens and Leah (Steven) McCullough; and Great Grandchildren, Jesse Crider, Jasmine Crider, Eston Burdick, Devin Burdick, Tabitha Burdick, Braden Shedd, Mason Shedd, Nick Copeland, Noah Copeland, Landon Stephens and Evan Stephens.

 Funeral Services for Mrs. Sweatman will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the Fisher’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Randall Massengill, Rev. Skip Mitchell, and Dr. Charles Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in the Fisher’s Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Phil Elsberry, Michael Duke, Jimmy Duke, Jeff Ramsey, Eddie Elsberry and Glenn Elsberry. Honorary Pallbearers will be Great Grandchildren and Members of the Fisher’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

 Mrs. Sweatman be in state at the Mason Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 P.M. On Tuesday, Mrs. Sweatman will also lie in state at the Fisher’s Chapel United Methodist Church from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour. Mason Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
