Officer Shot in Polk County – Area Law Enforcement Assisting – UPDATED

UPDATE: SUSPECT NOW IN CUSTODY

The suspect sought in the deputy shooting captured in Polk County, Georgia. Active warrants are also pending for Seth B. Spangler in Walker County, GA for a probation violation.  Authorities say Spangler was captured after one police officer was shot and killed and another injured in Polk County on Friday. A Polk County police officer said that a female police detective was fatally wounded. A bullet struck a male officer’s bulletproof vest and that officer survived, authorities said.

The Homecoming service that was planned for Calvary Baptist on Sun., Sept. 24th, has been postponed until Sun., Oct. 15th. Please join us for the service, a concert by Scarlett Wool, and a covered dish lunch on Sun. Oct. 15th.

Mrs. Audrey Kelley Ginnery, Obit (M)

Mrs. Audrey Kelley Ginnery, age 87, of Trion, GA passed away Friday, August 18, 2017 at her residence.

Mrs. Ginnery was born May 27, 1930 in Etowah County, AL to the late Reuben L. and Annie King Kelley. She was retired from Woolworth’s after 30 years of service and was a member of Living Waters Ministry.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Ginnery; sisters, Annie Ruth Hall and Wanda Sue Merck; and brother, Charles Kelley.

Mrs. Ginnery is survived by her special friends and caretakers; Joy and Tim McKee, Rev. Billy Wright; brother and sister-in-law, W. F. and Frances Kelley; special niece, Wanda Weaver; several other nieces and nephews; and her little dog, Tiny.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ginnery will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 20, 2017, at Mason Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Wright officiating.  Burial will follow at Alpine Cemetery.

Mrs. Ginnery will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:30 P.M. until the hour of service.

Mason Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Audrey Kelley Ginnery who passed away on Friday.

Town of Trion Returning to Normal Work Hours on Monday

On Monday, August 21, 2017, Town of Trion Public Works, Sanitation, and Gas Department will resume normal working hours of 7:00a.m. – 3:30p.m., Monday thru Friday.
