Rome police are investigating a drive-by shooting on Cherry Street in which the window of a house was broken but no one was injured.
According to reports: Police were called to the 100-block of Cherry Street shortly after 11:30 p.m. Saturday when 9-1-1 received several calls from residents who said shots had been fired and a bullet had hit a house.
The front door of the home had a hole in the window and the glass had shattered. The residents said that no one was hurt. A witness said he was on the couch when he heard the shots fired and got down on the floor.
Another witness said he saw a white or gray Monte Carlo drive in front of the house as the
shots were fired, but he ducked and didn’t see the person shooting.
The officer found six shell casings in the street in front of the house.
After checking the rest of the house and the surrounding houses the officer said it appeared that only one bullet struck the house.

A Lindale woman remained in jail Sunday without bond after she was accused of taking another woman’s car.
According to Floyd County Jail reports: Angela Lynn Hoyle, 46, was arrested at her home Sunday afternoon after she took a woman’s 2006 Toyota Corolla without permission.
Hoyle is charged with felony theft by taking a motor vehicle.

A North Carolina man, Isaac Rodriguez, age 19, was arrested over the weekend after a one vehicle accident sent a Rome woman to a local hospital with serious injury. Reports said that Rodriguez and 20 year-old Regina Evans was traveling on Callier Springs Road Sunday when he lost control of a car and hit a stone mailbox.
Evans was listed in critical condition early Monday.
Rodriguez was treated and sent to the Floyd County Jail where he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of alcohol by a person under the legal age, failure to maintain a single lane, operating a vehicle with an open container and driving too fast for conditions.

MRS. BARBARA HANKINS, age 66, of Summerville, Georgia, went to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her family, at the residence Sunday, November 1, 2015 . A native of Chattooga County, Georgia, She was born to the late Leonard Dozier and Verdie Belle Robinson Maples on May 6, 1949. Mrs. Hankins was Methodist by faith and was retired from Chattooga County Schools as Administrative Secretary.
Surviving are her husband, of 46 years, Guinn Hankins of Summerville; daughter and spouse, Patti & Charlie Jarrett of Summerville; son and spouse, Adam & Melissa Hankins of Trion; sisters, Judy Hartline of Gaylesville Alabama and Deborah Rogers of Menlo; grandchildren, Jared Hankins Nelson, Karlie Ruth Jarrett, Bailey Thomas Hankins, Jacob Thomas Jarrett, Noah James Hankins, and Emme Elizabeth Hankins; special grandchildren, Dillan Whorley & Angelena Fiorito; Gary & Arlene Hardeman. Several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins also survive.
Memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 3, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Skip Mitchell and Rev. Tom Russell officiating, Private interment at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 12 noon until the hour of service.
