Trion High School will host Armuchee High School on Friday, August 28th, for their first home game of the season.  All fans are required to come through the front gate which will open at 5:30.

2. NO PASSES OUT UNTIL THE END OF THE THIRD QUARTER.

Mr. Joe Louis Darden Obit (Wright)

Mr. Joe Louis Darden, age 75, of 696 Garvin Rd., Summerville, Ga.,  passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.  Mr. Darden was  born in Douglasville, Ga., on September 27, 1939, son of the late Ellis, Sr. and the late Cerlister Geter Darden. 

Survivors include his Ex-wife and friend, Essie M. Darden, Summerville Ga.; children, Sharon Covington, Covington, Ga.,  Whitney (Raven) Summerlin, Chattanooga, Tn., and Casey (Keisha) Darden, Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Joyce (Melvin) Knox, Menlo, Ga., Ennis (Charlie) Campbell Atlanta,Ga., and Annie Stewart, Ft. Stewart, Ga.; six grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 24, 2015, at 2 PM at New Spirit and Truth Church, Summerville, Ga., with Bishop V.T. Harden, officiating. Interment will follow in Summerville Cemetery. 

Wright Memorial Mortuary, Inc., has charge of the funeral arrangements.   

Mr. Clyde Barnes, Jr. Obit (M)

Mr. Clyde Barnes, Jr., age 75, of Summerville, GA, died Thursday, August 20, 2015, at his residence. 

Mr. Barnes was born on January 31, 1940, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Clyde Barnes and Mary E. Barnes.  He was a member of the Chesterfield Baptist Church, did paint and body work and was retired from Mount Vernon Mills. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond Barnes, Clarkie Barnes, James Barnes, Carl Barnes, sisters, Hazel Richardson and Kat Ellis. 

Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife, Naomi Mitchell Boyd Barnes, sons, Chad Barnes, Tony Barnes; sisters, Bobbie McArthur, Evely Spradling, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Ann Broyles, 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, a host nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services for Mr. Barnes will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 23, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Howell, Rev. Sanford DeBerry, Rev. Steve Bishop and Rev. Mickey Skates officiating.  Interment will follow in the AMI Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Keith Treadwell, Waymon Blansit, Gene Gazaway, Bill Broyles, Jeff Barnes, Randy McArthur. Honorary pallbearers will be Raburn & Sissy Ashworth, Frank & Peggy McCrickard, Roger & Peggy Thomas, Howard & Helen Odum, Mike Odum, Glenda Hartline, Heymen Hospice and members of Chesterfield Baptist Church. 

Mr. Barnes will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Saturday.

Mrs. Willie Mae Terry Mostiller obit (W)

MRS. WILLIE MAE TERRY MOSTILLER – Age 86, Of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Pruitt Healthcare in Rome, Georgia with her family at the bedside. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Carrie Mae Stanford Terry, husband, James Mostiller, Son, Bernard Mostiller, sister, Charlie Mae Harden, and brother, Roy Leslie Terry. She was the oldest of ten children and was a member of Pond Spring A.M.E. Zion Church.

Those left to cherish her memories are two daughters, Glenice (James) Thurman of Rome, Georgia and Sandra Mostiller; two sons, Daniel Mostiller of Summerville, Georgia and Samuel (Kim) Mostiller of Lithonia, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Britt, Chris, and Kira Thurman of Rome, Georgia, Maurice and Daniel II of Summerville, Georgia, Samuel and Rodney of Lithonia, Georgia; nine great grandchildren, three sisters, Mattie E. Terry (Perry) Dent, Sr. of Columbus, Georgia, Bernice Terry of Union City, Georgia, and Ivera Terry Powell of Atlanta, Georgia; four brothers, Jimmy L. (Thelma) Terry of Atlanta, Georgia, Clifford L. Terry of Park Forest, Illinois, John Raymond Terry, and Samuel L. Terry of Manchester, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Homegoing Service will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Pond Spring A.M.E. Zion Church, 3545 Taliaferro Spring Rd., Lyerly, Georgia 30730, with Pastor Anthony Brown officiating. Her remains will lie in state at the church from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour. Interment, Finley Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Lillie Mae Thompson Stewart of Chickamauga, GA and formerly of Summerville, GA pased away on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Pruitt Healthcare in LaFayette, GA.  She was a member of the Hemphill A.M.E. Church and Shady Grove Baptist Church, was preceded in death by her husband Hollis Stewart, parents Jackson and Annie Sewell Thompson, brother Felton Smith, Sr., sisters Ellen Avery, Rosa Lee Ellerby, and Isabelle Norman.

Survivors are her nieces, Annie Mae Bryant of Chickamauga, GA, Voncil Coleman of Chattanooga, TN, Annie Mae Glanton, Laura Dean Knowles, Rosa Lee Stamper, Bessie London, Arbie Avery of Summerville, GA, Bernice Walter of Toledo, OH,; Nephews, Henry Avery of Rossville, GA, Rowlan Stewart of Summerville, GA,; several other neices and nephews throughout the United States and into China.  cousins, other relatives and friends. Loving caregivers: Jeanette and James Caldwell of Chickamauga, GA, and Iuanita Rutledge of Chattanooga, TN,.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, August 16th at 1PM at the Sandy Grove Baptist Church, 879 N. Hwy 341, Wallace Rd, Chickamauga, GA  with Rev. Michael Montgomery, Rev. Soloman Missouri, and other ministers officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 until the service hour. Interment will be in the Summerville Cemetery. Mrs. Mary Frances Dawson Obit (ER)

MRS. MARY FRANCES DAWSON, age 75, of John Jones Road, Summerville, Georgia, Gore Community, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at her residence.  She was born in Jackson County, Alabama to the late William Harrison and Alma Adams Barron, on January 19, 1940; was a 1957 graduate of Summerville High School..  Mrs. Dawson was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and had served as Church Treasurer for many years; she was retired from Farmers & Merchants Bank after some 29 years of service.

        Surviving are husband, to whom She married June 7, 1959, Joe G. Dawson; daughters & spouses, Pam & Ricky Hammonds and Paige & Greg Shaw; brother, Jimmy Barron; granddaughters, Megan Jo Hunter, Clancey Paige & Calen Cooper; grandsons, Chris & Avery Hammonds and Chuck & Brandi Hammonds; great grandchildren, Autumn, Will, Reese, Calan, and Lexi Hammonds.

        Funeral services will be held Friday, August 14th, at 2:00 P.M. from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Mr. Albert Ralph Calaway Incomplete Obit (M)

Mr. Albert Ralph Calaway, age 91, of Gaylesville, AL, passed away Tuesday August 11, 2015, at his residence.
Mr Calaway was born December 15, 1923, in Cassandra, GA, the son of the late William Nathniel and Lillie Bell Wilson Calaway.  He was retired from Mohawk, a member of Barretts Chapel Congregational Holiness Church, where he served a a Deacon for over 60 years, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.   He was preceded in death by a son, John Calaway.
 
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Sue Calaway, sons and daughter-in-law, Micheal Calaway, Ricky & Teresa Calaway, sister, Bertha Reynolds.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by the Mason Funeral Home.
