Mr. Gary Wayne Precise Obit (M)

Mr. Gary Wayne Precise, age 63, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, August 10, 2015 at his residence.
 
Mr. Precise was born May 9, 1952 in Trion, GA, the son of Shelba Joy Morris Precise Bingham and the late James Wilburn Precise.  He was retired from Lookout Mtn.
Community Service. He was formerly the Chief of Stockbridge Fire Department.
Mr. Precise was a Mason, a gun advocate, a computer technician, and a craftsman.
Other than his father, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Oscar M. Precise,
SR and Cholista Dooley Precise, and Samuel Morris and Bonnie Bynum Precise.
 
Survivors include his wife, Doris Ann Stephens Precise; mother, Joy Morris Bingham;
daughters, Carrie Precise Cavender, Kimberly Precise Bertolami, and Jessica Rhiannon
Egbert; brothers, Randy Dale Precise and Sammy Bingham; sister, Susie Gray; special
cousin, Brenda Coffey; Six Grandchildren; and a special friend, Nigel Plant.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Mason
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vernon Johnson officiating.
 
Mr. Precise will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive
friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Wednesday, August 12, 2015.

Library Board Meeting

The Chattooga County Library's Board Meeting that was scheduled for July 28th has been rescheduled to Tuesday, August 18th at 4:30 p.m. at the Summerville Library.

Mr. Bobby Lee Johnson Obit (Wright)

Mr. Bobby Lee Johnson from Rome, Ga., was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 3, 2015, at Redmond Medical Center. He was born March 24, 1949, son of Elder Mason Johnson and Claudia Mae Johnson. 

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving devoted wife of 30 years Iris Johnson; sons Christopher and Christian Johnson; daughters, Cecilia and Christina  Johnson; a host of nieces nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. 

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Second Baptist Church, 65 Church Street, Summerville, Ga., with Bishop Bobby Greer officiating.  Interment will follow in Summerville Cemetery. 

Wright Memorial Mortuary, Inc. is in charge of arrangements for Mr. Bobby Lee Johnson.

Mrs. Tressie Henderson Knight Obit (ER)

MRS. TRESSIE HENDERSON KNIGHT, age 85, of Fayetteville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2015, in an Atlanta hospital.  A native of Cherokee County, Alabama, She was born to the late Luther T. and Pauline Berry Henderson on April 4, 1930.  Mrs. Knight lived in Trion for a number of years and was a self employed seamstress.  She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Charles William (Bill) Knight, and siblings, the late Blanche Battles, Everene Croy, Mardine Turner, Wallace Henderson, Berry Henderson, and Hugh Henderson.

        Surviving are daughter, Laura Knight of Fayetteville; sons, Kenneth Knight of Fayetteville and Scott Knight of Ft. Collins, Col.; Six Grandchildren, one Great Grandson, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

        Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 8th, at 12:00 noon, from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Casey Bramlett officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery.  The Family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the Funeral Home.

Summerville Library Changes Closing Dates

The Summerville Library branch has changed its closing dates. The library will now be closing August 12th through the 19th. The Library hopes to return to its normal operating hours August 20th.

Mrs. Julia Virginia Gentry Howell Obit (M)

Mrs. Julia Virginia Gentry Howell,  age 88, of Trion, GA, passed away Saturday July 25, 2015, in Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center.

 

Mrs. Howell was born March 2, 1927, in Chattooga County GA, the daughter of the late Virgil and Ida Viola “Daisy” Walker Gentry.  She was a retired textile worker, a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church, and preceded in death by her husband, Hobert (Red)  Howell, daughter, Shirley Cloud,  grandson, Jesse James Hathorn.

 Survivors include her childen, Judy Hathorn, Joyce Goodson, Betty Suits,  sisters, Doris Bryan, Jane Reed, Edna Williams, 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Monday 3:00 p.m. July 27, 2015 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Patterson, and Rev. Gary Howell officiating with interment in the West Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers, Billy Bennett, W.J. Keith, Daniel Gentry, Jeff Edge, Zachery Doll, Carl Gentry.

Mrs. Howell will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
