MISS WILLIE MAE “POLLY” WARREN, age 91, of Penn Street, Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, February 13, 2015, in the local health care. A Chattooga County native, She was born to the late William Dewitt and Hattie Belle Woods Warren on June 15, 1923. Ms. Warren was a member of the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church and was retired from the cloth room of Mount Vernon Mills after 37 years of service. She was preceded in death by siblings, Frances Green, Louise Warren, Nettie Owens, and Jules D. Warren.
Surviving are niece, Lorene Pinson, nephew, Jimmy Green, thirteen Great Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 P.M. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Miles Phillips officiating, entombment in Greenhills Memory Garden. The Family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 P.M. until the hour of service at the Funeral Home.

The Chattooga County Democratic Party released a statement late last week regarding Governor Deal’s proposed insurance cuts to part-time school employees.
According to a statement released by the Chattooga County Democratic Party Executive Committee:
"The Chattooga County Democratic Party backs having a strong middle class, but believe that Governor Deals agenda will hurt the middle class more than benefit it. The latest example of this is the Governor’s insurance cut proposal." The party pointed out in it’s release that part-time legislators in the Georgia House and Senate who have full insurance benefits, will be the deciding factor for cutting out insurance for bus drivers and cafeteria workers, also part-time.
The party further argued that insurance cuts should be made within the state government before those cuts are made to 11,000 statewide employees who care for Georgia’s children. "These employees are already making barely over minimum wage, and due to current political circumstances in our state government, are not eligible for Medicaid or for decent rates in the Health Care Exchange. In Chattooga County, over thirty part-time workers will be left without insurance benefits if Governor Deal’s proposal is passed. The local school board and school superintendent will be faced with a situation that could impact the safety of our children if these workers are forced to find other jobs because of Governor Deal’s proposals. Many of these workers are above fifty and are working simply to have insurance until they reach retirement age."
The party concluded their release with a plea urging State Representative Eddie Lumsden and State Senators Jeff Mullis and Chuck Hufstettler to oppose the Governor’s proposal in the General Assembly.
Governor Deal’s proposal is currently an “ongoing point of discussion” in the state legislative and executive offices. MR. JAMES RICHARD JOHNSON, Jr. – Age 65, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, January 30, 2015 in a local hospital. He was retired from Mount Vernon Mills, Inc. in the Shipping Department and was preceded in death by mother, Elois Mae Johnson, father, James Richard Johnson, Sr., and step father, Floyd Frazier.
He is survived by his three sisters, Amy Johnson, Shelly Lee Frazier, and Sherry Ann Johnson; nephew, Alonzo Johnson; devoted nephew, Jamahl Johnson; one great nephew, Mathias Johnson; a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral Service for Mr. James Richard Johnson will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 1:00 P. M. at New Hope United Methodist Church with Pastor R. E. Barrett officiating. Mrs. Elinor Marie Bramlett, age 86, of LaFayette, GA, died Sunday, February 1, 2015, in Anderson, South Carolina.
Mrs. Bramlett was born November 21, 1928, in Fort Payne, AL, daughter of the late William H. and Lena Ross Savage. She was a homemaker and a member of the LaFayette Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Bramlett; sisters, Boyce Barnes, Ruby England, and Henrietta Fowler.
Mrs. Bramlett is survived by her sons, Bobby Bramlett and Gary Bramlett; a daughter, Mrs. Michael Drummond; a brother, James Savage; a sister, Jane York; 8 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bramlett will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 4, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Min. David Paden officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.
Mrs. Bramlett will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the service hour on Wednesday.

Entries are currently being accepted for the Little Miss, Junior Miss, and Miss Chattooga County Pageant that will be held next week on Saturday February 7th. Registration is for girls age 0-19 and the entry fee is $30.00 plus $10 optional judging category. The Little Miss Pageant will begin at 4PM that afternoon in the Chattooga High School Cafeteria with the Junior Miss and Miss Pageants following at 6PM. Contestants should arrive at least one hour before their Pageant starts. A photographer will be on hand for the event. Mrs. Marjorie McElheney Woodard, age 101, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday January 23, 2015, in Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Woodard was born Nov. 4, 1913, in Hillsboro, GA, the daughter of the late M.E. and Bessie Tyler McElheney. She was a member of the Summerville First United Methodist Church, and served as a Sunday School Teacher of the adult Sunday School Class, member of the Eastern Star, Summerville Garden Club, B.P.W. , P.T.A., retired Teacher Association, former owners and operators of the Piggly Wigglys in Trion, Summerville, and Lyerly. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Woodard, 2 sisters, Doris Garman, Dorothy Cragg, son-in-law, James Griffin Sanders, grandson, Benjamin Sanders.
Survivors include her daughter, Virginia Woodard Sanders, Rome, GA, sons and daughters-in-law, James E. and Becky Woodard, Rome, GA, and Mike and Brenda Woodard of Menlo, GA, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren survive Mrs. Marjorie M. Woodard.
Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday January 25, 2015 from the Summerville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Pinson and Rev. Larry Reynolds officiating with interment in the Summerville Cemetery. Mrs. Woodard and her husband J.B. was the former owners and operators of the Piggly Wiggly Stores in Trion, Summerville, and Lyerly.
Survivors include her children, Virginia Sanders, Rome, GA, Jim Woodard, Rome, GA, and Mike Woodard of Menlo, GA, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other relatives survive Mrs. Marjorie M. Woodard.
