According to a report released late last week, on October 23rd, a Chattooga County Deputy was dispatched to Airport Road in Trion in reference to a burglary.
The homeowner told the officer that on October 15th, he found that the deeds for his three properties, several tax documents, and his laptop were missing from his home.
There were no signs of forced entry into the home, and the homeowner confessed that his home was unlocked at the time the items were stolen.
The incident was turned over to an investigator.
Chattooga County officers met with a man that reported finding a suspicious vehicle on October 23rd.
The man told officers that he saw a man running down a hill near his residence and drive away in a vehicle that he believed was reported suspicious.
The man knew that no one should be on his land, and he was concerned about recent burglaries. The officers checked the tag number that the man gave them and it matched with the car's tag that had gone missing.
The officers checked surrounding areas for the vehicle and found it parked in a driveway on Blowing Springs Road. The car's tag number matched the number given by the first man.
The officers went to the door of the home where the car was parked and gained her information. The incident was handed over Investigations.
On October 23rd, a Chattooga County officer was dispatched to the Trion Walmart after receiving a report of shoplifting.
The Asset Protection Associate, or APA, spoke with the officer and explained to him that a man, who was later identified as Corey Taylor, had taken several items and attempted to leave without paying for them.
Mr. Taylor was placed under arrest for shoplifting, and the Walmart APA began to explain to Mr. Taylor that if he was caught again that he would be banned from all Walmart stores. Mr. Taylor began arguing with the APA, so she decided to go ahead and ban him from all stores.
Paperwork was filed for Mr. Taylor's banning, and he was transported to the Chattooga County Jail.
On November 7th, a Chattooga County officer was dispatched to Mahan Road after receiving a call about someone stealing items from their home.
When the homeowner came to her house, she saw a woman loading her things into her Jeep. The homeowner made sure to park her car so that the woman could not leave. When the homeowner asked what she was doing, she said that she was just loading stuff up. The homeowner asked why she was taking her stuff, and saw that her daughter's things were in the back.
The woman began apologizing and saying that she thought that the home was abandoned. The woman was identified as Ms. Elaine Brown once the officer arrived. Ms. Brown was placed into arrested for theft and taken to the Chattooga County Jail.
On November 6th, a Chattooga County officer met with a man that lived on McGraw Road that wanted to report a theft.
The man said that when he arrived home, he noticed some things were missing. Upon further investigation, he saw that someone had taken jewelry and his coin collection.
The report was filed and referred to investigations.
A Chattooga County officer was dispatched to Pecan Orchard Drive in reference to a stolen lawn mower.
A woman told the officer that she arrived home and saw that her riding mower was missing. She said that she usually keeps the mower by her house covered with a blue cover. She also mentioned that earlier in the day a friend saw a white SUV drive by her house and load the mower onto a trailer. The woman knew that the property owner's son drives a white SUV, so she suspects that he had a reason for taking the mower.
The woman gave the officer some descriptors for the mower and the incident was handed over to investigations.
On October 20th, a Chattooga County officer was dispatched to O'Neal Road regarding a reported theft.
A man told the officer that someone had taken his generator from his lawn without permission. The man knew that it must have been between 12:30 and 3:00 pm.
The man also estimated the value of the generator around $450.
On October 19th, Chattooga County officers were dispatched to Oak Hill-Alpine Road in reference to a possible burglary.
One man called authorities after seeing that a home's front door was standing open.
The officers observed the doors to the outbuildings around the house were open, as well as the door to the RV outside. The front door to the home was open and damage to the door was visible.
Officers cleared the house room by room to be sure that no one was inside.
No suspects were found and the incident was handed over the the Investigator.
