Friday, July 11th, brought Chattooga County officers to Denson Road in reference to Account Fraud.

The complainant told officers that she was trying to use her debit card, but it would not work. She called the card's company and found out that money on the card was spent in San Diego, California at a CVS and Walgreens. The transactions totaled close to $750 between the two.

She also told officers that later, she received a call about a payment close to $112 was made in a Rite Aid in Ohio. The woman said that the last purchase she had made with the card had been in LaFayette, Georgia.

The case is still under investigation.  

This past Sunday, July 6th, Chattooga County officers reported to a residence in response to stolen items.

A woman told officers that a diamond ring was stolen from a ring holder in her nightstand drawer, along with other rings, but the diamond one was the only one missing. A man told officers that his pistol was also missing from under the bed mattress, and had been next to another pistol, but only one was stolen.

The couple said that a female had been staying at the home, since she and her boyfriend were having trouble. The woman had left suddenly on Friday afternoon. The woman had been the only other person in the house that wasn't family.

Investigators became aware of the report. 

A fight on Austin Ave attracted Chattooga County officers this past Saturday, July 5th.

Officers arrived on scene around 1:00 pm to find a man that had clearly been through a physical altercation. The man had small marks on his nose, inside his lip, and he mentioned that his glasses had been broken.

The man had seen a neighbor's relative exiting his aunt's house as they were returning. Once inside, they saw that drawers had been opened and looked through, and one of his guns had been stolen. The man confronted the neighbor's relative later. The neighbor's relative swung at the man and missed, but the man proceeded to push the neighbor's relative, resulting in a fistfight.

The neighbor's relative told the man that he would return the gun, and the man said that if he received the gun by 5:00 pm, he would not press charges. 

Minutes after the officers arrived, the neighbor's relative requested emergency medical services. He had bruising and swelling in his right eye, and a torn collar. He was tended to and told that he was fine. He told officers that the man had attacked him and he had only said that he could return the gun to calm the man down.

Both parties were advised to have no further contact. 

A man traveled to the Chattooga County Sheriff's Office to report stolen card information.

A man had recently checked his bank account and had discovered a negative seven-hundred dollar amount. The man told officers that someone else must have retrieved his card number and had produced another card with his same number. The produced card was used in Marietta, Georgia in two locations. One location was Petco, and the transaction totaled $149. The other transaction occurred at Zaxby's and totaled $209.

The report was turned over to investigators. 

On July 2nd around 1:30 pm, Chattooga County officers were called to the Sequoyah Motel.

The officers were told that a white male wearing blue jeans, no shirt, and several tattoos was on the property and would not leave. Officers located the man, who was later identified as Mr. Frank Roper. When asked what was going on, Mr. Roper said that he was leaving and proceeded to attempt to bump fists with one of the officers. The officers noticed cuts on Mr. Roper's hand, and asked for an explanation. Mr. Roper's answer was inaudible and slurred and he appeared intoxicated.

Officers asked a second party what had happened, and one man replied that Mr. Roper "went off" on him.

Mr. Roper was asked if he had any weapons on his person, and he handed over a knife from his pocket. Officers gained possession of the knife and attempted to handcuff Mr. Roper for Officer Safety. Mr. Roper began to struggle continuously while back up from Summerville Police, Hays, and the Sheriff's Office arrived. Mr. Roper received a bloody nose during the struggle and was taken to the Chattooga County Jail and treated by Redmond EMS.

The second party was questioned again. One man said that Mr. Roper had asked him to hold money for him earlier, and he had confronted him about his money. Mr. Roper became upset and punched the man in the chest. Witnesses supported the man's story.

Mr. Roper was later charged with Simple Battery and Obstruction of Officers.

On Friday, July 11th, Chattooga County officers noticed a driver on Filter Plant Road that was swerving in and out of a lane.

The driver was pulled over at the intersection of Filter Plant Road and Back Berryton Road around 4:00 am. The driver was identified as Lindsey Eleam. The officer detected alcohol on her breath and asked Ms. Eleam if she had had anything to drink. Ms. Eleam admitted to having two beers, and was asked to perform some tests. Ms. Eleam failed field tests and consented to taking a breathalyzer test, in which she tested positive for alcohol at .043 grams. 

Ms. Eleam was arrested for Driving Under the Influence under the age of 21 and Failure to Maintain a Single Lane. She was taken to the Chattooga County Jail immediately. 

A man living on Holland Chattoogaville Road called Chattooga County officers on July 7th about a burglary.

The man had been out of his home and upon returning noticed that someone had broken the hasp and padlock from his residence and had taken several items. The homeowner told officers that he knew who had taken the items, so he went to retrieve them. He was able to locate his belongings and speak with the offender. The suspected thief told the man that he would return the rest of the items, but has not.

The case is still under investigation. 

A Jersey Bull that belongs to a family on Hutchins Farm Road caused a neighborly dispute.

On July 6th around 9:45 pm, a man spoke to Chattooga County officers about an ongoing problem that involved a bull belonging to his neighbors. The bull had repeatedly come on to the man's property, and the past week had crossed the property line every day.

The man said that the last deputy he spoke to told him that he would talk to the man's neighbors about their livestock maintenance. The man also mentioned that other neighbors have complained about the livestock as well.

The dispute is still being handled by Chattooga County officials.
