Chattooga County officers were called to Gore Subligna Road on July 10th concerning a reported theft.

The homeowner told officers that someone had removed his air conditioner unit, kitchen cabinets, laundry room cabinets, dishwashers, microwave, and electric stove. The homeowner estimated the value around $8,800.

The homeowner was told that a report would be filed and that investigators would be working on his case shortly. 

On July 10th, around 12:36 am, Chattooga County officers were called to a store off of Highway 27 in reference to a burglary.

Upon arrival, the officers noticed that several items had been knocked into the floor, and the back door seemed like it had been damaged. Once officers got a closer look, they saw that the back door had been pried open. The officers checked the store's safe, but did find a footprint on the counter of the store.

They saw several lottery tickets on the floor and found several more on the back side of the parking lot.

Investigators are still investigating the incident. 

On Wednesday, July 2nd around 9:00 pm, Chattooga County officers were called to Skelton Street to report to a Domestic Dispute.

 Upon arrival, Ms. Amber Hovater told officers that their had been a physical altercation between her, Mr. Paul Carter, and another victim. Mr. Carter was not on the scene when authorities arrived. The third victim was able to speak with officers and told them that she had been kicked in the stomach and needed medical attention, since she suspected that she could be pregnant. She explained to officers that Mr. Carter had charged at Ms. Hovater and attacked her. When the victim attempted to get Mr. Carter off Ms. Hovater, she was kicked in the process. An ambulance arrived on the scene and the victim was later transported to Floyd Medical Center.

Ms. Hovater was able to talk to officers and give her account of the incident. She told authorities that her and Mr. Carter had gotten into an argument, and then Mr. Carter pulled a knife on her. She said that in self-defense, she pulled hers out as well. She said that Mr. Carter then charged and they ended up on the ground. During the struggle, Ms. Hovater's knife was lost and Mr. Carter hit her in the face with a fist. The officers did notice blood on Ms. Hovater's nose.

Mr. Carter told officers that he and Ms. Hovater did get into an argument, when she pulled a knife on him; he allegedly defended his family by charging at Ms. Hovater.

Both Mr. Carter and Ms. Hovater were transported to Chattooga County Jail for  Simple Battery.

On Monday, June 30th, Chattooga County officers were called to Penn Street due to a domestic incident.

The homeowner told officers that when she arrived home, her mother-in-law drove in behind her, blocking her car in her driveway. She stated that her mother-in-law began threatening her with a baseball bat. The homeowner told officers that she refused and called 911. After she made the call, her mother-in-law left.

Officers spoke with the homeowner's estranged husband, who said that his wife had come home with a baseball bat and knife and threatened to stab him and his mother. He told officers that  he called 911 and his wife got back into the car, which happened right before his mother arrived at the house.

The incident is still under investigation. 

On July 2nd, Chattooga County officers were called to Dry Valley Road because of an intoxicated pedestrian.

Two officers reported to the road after 7:00 pm. One officer found a man laying in a ditch on Dry Valley and identified him as Clyde Chambless. Both officers could smell alcohol on his person. Mr. Chambless told the officers that he had gotten into an altercation with people living on Dry Valley Road, and was leaving. The homeowner that reported Mr. Chambless told officers he had confronted Mr. Chambless, but only after he had groped the homeowner's girlfriend. The woman did not wish to file a report, but both the homeowner and his girlfriend asked officers to tell Mr. Chambless to stay away from their property.

Mr. Chambless was arrested for Pedestrian Under the Influence and was taken to Chattooga County Jail.

On July 7th, a woman reported a stolen game console.

The woman told Chattooga County officers that her brother-in-law stole her Xbox One while she was moving out of her home. The woman, her husband, and her brother-in-law had all lived in the same home, but were now moving into different locations.

The woman told the officers that the Xbox One is in her name at Rent-a-Center. She had the serial number on file and was able to find the same Xbox at a pawn shop nearby. She saw that it was pawned in her brother-in-law's name, and confronted him. After he did not take action to retrieve the game console, the woman went to the authorities.

The incident is currently being investigated. 

As a general safety and courtesy announcement, AM 1180 would like to remind those that will have smaller fireworks to remember their neighbors this weekend.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is a serious problem for some veterans that have lived through battle. When fireworks go off near these veterans, they can have flashbacks to times of war. To prevent a festive night turning into a terrible reminder, please announce to your neighbors if you will have fireworks and remember those that have fought bravely for you and your freedom.

The "Celebrate Independence" festival will be held Saturday, July 5th. There will be fireworks after dark, along with food and music!

There will be plenty of fun for the whole family this weekend, so be sure to come by the Recreation Center off of Highway 100 this Independence Day weekend! 

A physical domestic dispute brought Chattooga County officers to Northern Heights Circle on June 29th. 

 One deputy arrived at the home around 9:30 pm and found several males standing outside. One of the men told the officer that he was the one he was looking for. When the man, later identified as Rick Farmer, was asked why, he replied that he was "the one that got into it with the girl inside." Two more deputies arrived at the home and stayed with Mr. Farmer while the other went to question the woman. 

The woman was identified as Mr. Farmer's sister-in-law. She told the deputy that when she got home, she could smell smoke inside the house, and went to talk to the group of men to tell them to stop, since she has a child with a breathing problem. The woman told them they should stop, and was about to walk back outside when Mr. Farmer said that "no one was going to tell him what he could and could not do." The woman told Mr. Farmer that he needed to leave, and then he allegedly replied that it was his brother's house, and he did not have to leave. Mr. Farmer proceeded to push the woman by the throat, where she retaliated with a punch. Mr. Farmer grabbed the woman by the hair, and pulled some from her head. The deputy took note of a small amount of blood from her scalp.

When Mr. Farmer was asked about what took place, he simply replied that it was "probably what she said." He admitted that the physical altercation occurred, and was placed under arrest for Simple Battery.
